ABSTRACT
Domestic violence represents one of the most pervasive yet under-recognized violations of women's human rights across societies. Despite constitutional guarantees of equality and the enactment of progressive legal frameworks aimed at safeguarding women, domestic abuse continues to persist in both urban and rural settings. The effectiveness of legal remedies is closely linked to women’s awareness of their rights and their capacity to access institutional support mechanisms. The present study examines the nature and prevalence of domestic violence and critically analyzes the level of legal awareness among women. It further investigates the relationship between socio-economic background, education, and reporting behavior. Employing a descriptive and analytical research design, the study draws upon primary data collected from women respondents and secondary sources including legal documents, reports, and academic literature.
