Author: Rajni Kunari & Radhakanta Gartia

Abstract
The study investigated the relationship between stress and academic achievement of
senior secondary school students. A total of 120 senior secondary school students
randomly selected from six senior secondary schools of North-western Delhi
participated in the study. Three null hypotheses were tested using data generated
from research instruments. The instrument included Stress Inventory designed and
standardized by Dr. Suman Nangia (1990). Academic achievement was taken from
the students’ previous examinations. Data generated from these instruments were
correlated using Pearson product moment correlation method. Results showed a
positive correlation between stress and academic achievement. Significant difference
exists in the academic achievement of students having high, moderate and less stress.
Students with high and moderate stress performed better than the students having
less stress. Further it was also found that stress and academic achievement are not

students, evaluation, teachers, their expertise and parameters essential for effective
education etc. It must be considered that education policy should be based on
research. This is clear from the National Education Policy of 1986.
The abstract of education research is published after the survey is done. Till now five
surveys are done and their abstract are available in seven different volumes. These
volumes have released abstract of approximately 6,425 different education
researches. Among them only 144 researches are done on child education. It means
only 2.24% research is done on child education. The first research on child education
was done in 1957. It is seen that research field is as neglected as the child education

An Objective Measurement of Self-Monitoring Strategy on Problem Solving in Science
Author: N.johnson

Abstract
Approaching Science through problem solving can create a context, which simulates
real life and therefore justifies Science rather than treating it as an end in itself.
Problem-solvers intend to employ a combination' of domain-specific knowledge and
strategic knowledge. Researches indicate that student’s problem solving failures are
often due not to a lack of scientific knowledge but to the ineffective use of what they
do know. This paper describes a study that investigated the self-monitoring
strategies used by high school students while working individually on a Science
problem. Identifying the characteristic type of metacognitive failures of solution
highlighted the distinction between the two key elements of effective monitoring:
being able to recognize errors and other obstacles to progress and being able to
correct or overcome them.

Psychological Dimensions of Tasleema Nasreen’s French Lover
Author: Neeru

Abstract
In this paper, an attempt is being made to analyse Taslima Nasrin’s novel French
Lover (Forashi Premik, 2001, translated from the Bengali by Sreejata Guha, 2002,
Penguin) from the point of view of psychoanalytical and socio-psychological
theories. I intend to show how the psycho- analysis and theories of personality give
an insight into Nila’s desires and reasons for her actions. Her instinct for freedom
manifested in Paris, her identification with Baudelaire’s Malabar Woman, the
displacement of her affections from Kishan to Benoir, Kishan’s coherence to the
housewife ideology and Benoir’s self-centered approximation of ‘love’, all dictate the
novelistic actions, and can be explained through the theories of Psychology. It will
be interesting to analyze the novel in accordance with the accepted norms of Freud’s
theories of personality and socio-psychological theories.

Author: Sushil & Priyanka Jain

Abstract
Social skills are the foundation for getting along with others. Lack of Social Skills
can lead to behavioral difficulties in school, delinquency, inattentiveness, peer
rejection, emotional difficulties, bullying, difficulty in making friends,
aggressiveness, problems in interpersonal relationships, poor self-concept, academic
failures, concentration difficulties, isolation from peers, and depression. Children
with learning disabilities, sensory integration difficulties, Autism spectrum disorder
neurological disorders, and emotional disabilities often need additional training in
social skills. They will be likely to benefit from direct instruction in social skills
groups led by trained professionals and the availability of a safe environment in
which to practice newly learned skills. The present paper will discuss the methods of
teaching social skills to Learning disabled in detail.

Author:
