ABSTRACT:
Collaborative robots (cobots), ideal for use alongside humans, can also increase the flexibility of the production system and be introduced gradually in the industrial field. They allow for higher productivity by combining human dynamic problem-solving capabilities and robot endurance and precision. However, in any human-robot collaborative system, the safety of human workers is of the utmost importance. The design of efficient and safe collaborative robot systems is one of the challenges that arise. This paper comprises a narrative literature review that presents a detailed investigation of the existing literature on safety concerns in industrial cobots. It emphasises physical safety and collisions, standards and regulations, risk assessment, sensing techniques, and job ergonomics.
