ABSTRACT
Health is now universally regarded as an important index of social development. The health is both
cause and effect of poverty, illiteracy and ignorance. Despite significant strides that have been made
by the third world countries like India in eradicating epidemics like plague, and small pox as also in
containing malaria, the state of health n these societies today, particularly in India, continues to be
greatly unsatisfactory. 2020 has been a most unprecedented year. No one, anywhere in the
world could have predicted the kind of havoc COVID-19 created, not just in
overwhelming the health systems but also challenging economic growth, industrial
