Since independence, the growth of higher educational institutions has been very impressive. The number of universities has increased to 611, the colleges to 31324 and the student enrolment ratio to 1,46,24,990 during 2009-10. Higher education system in Punjab is roughly a reflection of the higher education system at the all- India level. Before independence, there was only one university, 46 colleges in the unreorganised state of Punjab. The enrolment of students in these institutions of higher learning was only 76108. After reorganisation especially in the post - 1990s , the growth of higher education institution has been very impressive. The number of universities has increased to 20, the number of colleges to 940 and the student enrolment to 3,88,184. In spite of the spectacular growth in higher education system in India its optimum output is hindered by various weaknesses in the system. The growth and expansion of school education in Punjab during the past two decades has been tardy. As a result, the targets of total literacy and universalisation of elementary education are yet to be achieved. Moreover, the state policy to upgrade schools, mainly on political considerations, without providing matching facilities, has further disturbed the educational equilibrium. Further, the state educational infrastructure is not adequately equipped to solve problems such as non-enrolment of children, fake enrolment, irregular attendance and high dropout rate in rural areas. The influential sections have started withdrawing their wards from schools, both in rural and urban areas. The ever-increasing share of scheduled castes students in school enrolments at the primary level in Punjab is a pointer to this fact. ABSTRACT
In the present study an attempt has been made to study the job satisfaction of college teachers. The study was carried out on 9 districts out of 30 districts of Orissa under Utkal University (In each district 35 college teachers) in total 315 teachers were selected randomly constituted the sample. The data were collected through Job satisfaction scale for college Teachers developed by the investigators themselves. The simple percentage (%) analysis was calculated to study the job satisfaction of college teachers. The results of the investigation reveal that most of the college teachers were strongly agree on the statements comes under the factor like working condition, salary security, promotional avenues, social status, institutional plan and procedure, satisfaction with the authority competence and function of job satisfaction.

ABSTRACT
The present study entitled "Early Childhood Care and Education: Parental perception" falls mainly within the preview of survey of pre-schools. Interview method has been employed in this study. The study involved 50 nursery schools/ECCE centers in 6 districts of Punjab. Information was collected from the 60 parents of the children who were 3 yrs to 6yrs old and were studying in these schools. Findings of the present study indicate significant differences in the opinion of parents regarding early childhood education. Majority of parent’s considered caring and well qualified staff as an important indicator for an ideal pre-school. Majority of parents thought that children get multiple benefits from early childhood education if more teaching learning aids are added whereas according to 35% parents, pre-schools should have proper indoor /outdoor playing area as one of the major infrastructure facility. ABSTRACT
A large group of working women of India is in the rural and unorganized sector. Majority of Indian women are still confined to the boundary of four walls of the house and are in a disadvantageous position. Due to liberalization, privatization and globalization Indian economy is moving at a very fast pace. Recent advances in Information and technology have opened new employment opportunity both for men and women but it is commonly observed that women are less engaged in ICT sector as compared to men in India. ICT is for everyone and women have to be an equal beneficiary to the advantages offered by the technology and the product and processes which emerged from its use. The benefits accrued from the integration of Knowledge and ICT need not be restricted to the upper strata of the society but should freely flow to all segments of the population including the women.
